The Central India Initiative’s (CInI) Mission Programme aims to positively impact the quality of education in the Central Indian tribal belt.
CInI has formed an integrated cluster development plan (CDP) for each block that focuses on key sectors, including education, to achieve a transformational goal of irreversible prosperity. Their Mission Programme aims to significantly impact the quality of education in 500 schools. This year, the programme worked in 113 schools with 10,000 children, and enhanced learning levels in language, mathematics and environmental studies by 15-20% from the baseline among secondary schoolchildren (grades 8th – 10th).
Pilot initiatives included:
- Comprehensive programme for overall improvement of schools and children’ learning levels through a ‘cohort’ approach
- Training the most qualified community youth to become learning assistants and facilitators
- Designing teaching and learning materials specifically focused on language, mathematics and science
- Enhancing high school education through academic support
A limited number of pilot programmes have been initiated in Jharkhand in the first phase (2015-2020). Learning will help scale the approach across other target locations in subsequent phases.
